Acacia longifolia (Andrews) Willd.
Habit: Shrub, small tree < 10 m, unarmed. Stem: twig angled, glabrous. Leaf: simple, 5--15 cm, 10--25 mm wide, narrowly elliptic to lance-linear, straight; petiole base 2--5 mm; longitudinal veins 2--4. Inflorescence: spike, 2--5 cm, +- sessile, < leaf. Flower: bright yellow. Fruit: 5--15 cm, 5--9 mm wide, +- straight, +- cylindric, leathery, light to dark brown, glabrous. Seed: aril light yellow, cup-shaped, covering tip.
Ecology: Uncommon. Disturbed places, especially sandy coastal areas; Elevation: < 150 m. Bioregional Distribution: CCo, SnFrB, SCo, SnGb, PR; Distribution Outside California: native to southeastern Australia, New Guinea, Kei Islands. Flowering Time: Jan--Apr
