Habit: Annual. Stem: prostrate to erect, 1 to clumped. Leaf: basal and cauline; sheath open; ligule membranous, toothed at tip; blade flat to inrolled. Inflorescence: raceme- or panicle-like. Spikelet: subsessile to short-stalked; florets 5--25, bisexual, breaking above glumes and between florets; glumes +- equal, lower lanceolate, 1--3-veined, upper +- elliptic, 3-veined; lemma firmly membranous, acute to obtuse, 1--5-veined; palea < lemma.
