Ericameria parryi var. aspera (Greene) G.L. Nesom & G.I. Baird
Habit: Plant 1.5--7 dm. Stem: erect to spreading, white to +- green. Leaf: 15--50 mm, straight or curved, gray or green; distal-most often overtopping heads; glands short-stalked. Inflorescence: spike-like or branched, heads 4--10, +- dense; phyllaries acute, tips erect to spreading, +- white, straw-colored, or +- purple. Flower: 5--10.
Ecology: Dry forest to alpine barrens, often in pumice or gravel; Elevation: 1900--3300 m. Bioregional Distribution: c&s SNH, SnBr, SNE, DMtns; Distribution Outside California: Nevada. Flowering Time: Jul--Sep
Synonyms: Chrysothamnus parryi subsp. asper (Greene) H.M. Hall & Clem.
