Eureka Redwood "peters" out at (2 mi. west) Bridgeville--Tan Oak begins. More T.O. on Burn Creek. --Mr. Casterlin had 1000 acers of T.O. at Blocksburgh. 100 of it very fine. Fire never through it. Some of it would run 15 _ 16 cords per acre worth _6.00 cut on the ground, but too far to haul out here with profit. Fire makes trees hard to peel--these trees left.--M.A. Casterlin ---------------------- Distillery at Briceland. Had a grinder once at Phillipville. No Tan Oak close to the M. Eel here but "up a little ways" east of river. Fine body of redwood at Bull Creek. Between Salmon Creek and Redwood Creek the Redwood disappears as a solid body--
