inner perianth segments much
smaller than the outer, about or rather less
than 1/2 the size -- Rancho, San Miguelita

most picturesque way. The
hills are somewhat
diversified with Digger Pine. At
Jolon I stopped at Dutton's
Hotel, an old-fashioned
wayside inn, solid and
large confortable-looking
structure.But Tidball's
Hotel at the end of the
street serves better meals,
Mr. Davy says. We shall
stop there when we go back.
Jolon is 20 miles from King City.

To this ranch _see p. 28f_ is 10 miles. I came by
the ranch wagon. The ranch house
is most prettily situated among
the hills with valleys lying
about, the country well-covered
with oak and other trees

No 1624 Clarkia speciosa ssp speciosa
= G. parviflora Jepson
Corolla
large, crimson. Buds very large
and 4-sided. Ovary evidently ribbed.
Large flowered and very beautiful plant.
Stigma very different
from those of 1626 as also the tips of the buds.

No. 1625. Godetia. Three plants, one
with narrow capsules, the other
two with short oblong but thick
capsules, and also with a few
early narrow capsules. Upper
leaves conduplicate in all three, -
all with small crimson flowers.
