Santa Lucia Mts.

Abila Ranch, June 16
= Avila ranch
on [[Salaipuedes?]] Creek, tributory San
Antonio River

- Madrona, Rhamnus Californica,
not noticed around San Miguelito.
Coulter Pine. Valley Oak.

- C. Abila, Jolon, Monterey Co.
California.

- Acer macrophyllum. Rhamnus
crocea ilicifolia. Sycamore

- We rested for the night at
the Abila Ranch. The house
is the old-fashioned Mexican
adobe. We were served a very
appetizing supper by the
fair-haired blue-eyed Senora. The Senor was
a fine-looking young fellow. Evidently
neither were Mexicans
in the least, but all Spanish.
The little boys might have passed
for young Americans. Venison
was on the bill of fare.
