June 1886 The label heading is: Plants of Southern California. Strictly speaking no locality is given save Southern California. "Common on the Mojave Desert" is a statement of fact and may be accepted as correct, but the collection was not necessarily made there. It should have read: Mojave Desert; common. --Rarity in individuals. cf. F.B. 50:71, at bottom of page. --Always number male and female specimens separately. Since they are derived from different plants. |
