When Greene left Berkeley in 1895 he took with him all his belongings (herbarium, library and so on in South Hall) and a good deal of University belongings (sheets from the herbarium).
He left in personal custody of J.W. Flinn, the University printer, who was a Catholic, a large dry goods box containing Flora Franciscana and Manual of Botany of the Region of San Francisco Bay. Years later, probably
