Kern Canon.

Spring (Fenced Meadow). Saw Mr.[Hernmann], the ranger also. He has the most extensive range of any of the rangers - from the Kern River Canon to the Marble Fork and Mt. Kaweah to the southward. After lunch, on saddling up, Mr. Black, a typical Englishman of the Lindsay Colony, came into camp with another gentleman. His speech showed him to be English surely. He fishes a great deal, spends the entire summer in the valley of the Kern Canon until he gets word that it is cool in the Valley. He never eats a fish of his
