Kew Herbarium, England
- Dr. A.L. Grant says Dr. Wm [William] Trelease fell out with the Board of Trustees of the Missouri Botanical Garden because the Trustees objected to the giving of all his time to research. He neglected the administration of the garden, while the Herbarium became chaotic. Even in all these years Dr. Jesse Greenman as Curator of the Herbarium has not succeeded in getting all of it in order. It seems that Dr. Geo.[George] T. Moore, ranking first under Dr. Trelease, cultivated the good-will of the trustees, undermined Trelease, and stepped in as Director when Trelease went out. At least this is the way Trelease views it.
Dr. Greenman has been unwell for years. Has had several surgical operations and is now

going on half-year leave. He is coming to the Congress. Dr. Grant further says that Dr. Karl McKay Wiegand and Professor M. L. Fernald have fallen out (cf. my record of Wiegand's account of Fernald, F.B. 44:(60).
- H.S. Fawcett of the Riverside Citrus station, California, is here. He has been around the Mediterranean during the winter, on the matter of citrus diseases.
- M.L. Fernald of the Gray Herbarium, with his helper Bayard Long, has arrived here.
- DeCandolle, Prodromus, V. 14.
