4_186 Big Cottonwood to July 25 Fenced Mdw. Kern Canon. July 26 A late (10:00) start for Mineral King. Camped in a meadow near summit of trail over Western Divide for lunch. Went through Coyote Pass and found it very steep. Terrible trail. Hot Haste nearly fell off trail but I let go of his rope in the nick of time. Camped late at night on Shotgun. |
4_187 ___Mineral King, 1900 ____ ____July 27. Long hard pull to a mdw. within _ mi. of summit of Farewell Gap where we lunched. Met Ernest Britten the Ranger on the trail. He was heading for a fire which had started on Shotgun. A Soldier party was following him up. Camped for the night at Mineral King. |
