Echium plantaginum L. corolla with blue throat and limb - the delicate blue of Peutstemon heterophyllus - changing soon to luminous pink - the whole corolla then pink, as the tube is pink from the beginning. Corolla irregular, with oblique limb. "Lower lip" of two transversely olong - quad- ratish lobes, the odd stamen opposite the sinus of this pair. Lateral lobes twice as broad as those of the lower pair; upper lip of one lobe somewhat sinu- ilar to those of lower pair. The five lobes are really much alike but [lis] on an (save for the greater breadth of the lateral ones) oblique plane of the throat, so to speak. The lower odd
