Cactaceae left out of Britton and Rose's account. He took a great delight in telling about how he got various people fussed because he kept finding new things. I recall this as a foible of Small many years ago. He most kindly took me to NEw Year's dinner at his home where there was a turkey spread and a large family party. Small is [?] at work on a new illustrated edition of his Flora of the Southeast United States. The region west of the Mississippi he intends to provide for by another manual. He said that Mackenzie had telephoned him that my Manual was out and that it contained new ideas worth looking into.
