Berkeley to Atlanta, GA. 1925

-Left Berkeley Dec. 22. Took Sunset Limited at San Francisco. The last 40 miles before reaching Yuma showed interesting desert vegetation, as seen from train window: Fouqueira splendens; Olneya tesota, fine trees of this species, I think surely this species; Dalea spinosa, a plenty; Parkinsonia torreyana (PAlo verde). We went across nearly the whole of Arizona and all of New Mexico in the night. In western Texas I saw a sight I never thought to see again, a band of wild antelope. At least they were in very wild country, this doubtless protected by law now-a-days.
