Herbage very clammy! Moist shady swales.

This caryophyll grew in a shady forest on lotting logs.

cont. from p. 95]. flowers. Lilium parvum was not infrequent in the edge of the woods (no. 10,193) and also Senecio (no. 10,190). Saxifraga (no. 10,189) was in fine condition and rather common, while two color forms of Castilleia (nos. 10,179 and 10,195) were most beautiful in this border of woods to the swamp or mds [meadow].

No. 10,202. Arctostaphylos manzanita Parry. This is abundant or at least common on Bear Mts. [Mountains]_ south of Harmon Peak. Aug. 17.
