Oct. 18, 1923. [drawing ] - Cont. from p.119. No. 10,253. The calyx is 5-cleft with a distinctly cup-shaped base. In this base are seated five fleshy, flattish but thick, scales, adnate to the calyx but free at tip! The stamens are 5, with their filaments inserted in the sinuses of the calyx. Calyx bright pink! The outstanding features are the synsepalous base to the calyx and the fleshy scales! Calyx 2 1/2 lines long. Stamens exserted. Style 2-cleft. All flower parts glabrous. - Cont. 10,248. Stamens 5.
