- Drove today from Berkeley to a point beyond Goodyear sta., where I parked the machine alongside the railway track and we walked into the marshes as far as Teal sta. We passed first Cygnus sta. (at Drawbridge). from Cygnus to Teal may be said to be the heart of the Suisun Marshes. Mr. H. P. Mason and Miss Joyce Saunders were along. - Cont. p. 110.

- Professor John W. Gilmore of the Division of Agronomy spoke on fibers before the Botany Seminar Oct. 15.
Fibers have quality as follows: Strength Durability Cohesion Pliability Elasticity Length Fineness Uniformity Porosity Luster
He classified fibers into fast fibers, such as flax; superficial fibers such as cotton; and structural fibers such as the following:
Coir (Cocas nucifers)
Sisal (Agave spp.)
Manila (Boehmeria spp.)
New Zealand (Phormium tenax).
