Oct. 4, 19223.
No. 10,226. Heterotheca grandiflora Nutt.
Antioch. Common in sandy soil. See p. 104.
- This trip made from Berkeley into the islands of the Lower Sacramento River in one day, leaving Berkeley at 6:00 a.m. and going by way of Willow Pass to the Sherman Island ferry beyond Antioch. Ferry fare _1.05 each way. On the dry summer-fallowed fields near Antioch Eremocarpus setigerus is abundant, often monopolizing the fields to the exclusion of anything else, for miles. It is a native species which likes broken ground and is enabled to adapt itself to the changed conditions brought about by man's cultivating habits.
Drove from Sherman Isl. to Brannan Isl. [island] crossing by ferry, 50c.
