Stamens 14,12,13,12. Disk with 5 glandular yellowish lobes, i.e. of [male] fl. [flowers].
No. 10,212. Hemizonia kelloggii Greene Rays 5; bracts of the disk 5, united in a circle and enclosing the 5 disk fls. Ligules 2 1/2 lines long. Ray achenes roughened, with a marked beak.
- See p. 109. Heterotheca grandifolia [sic] Nutt. 3 to 5 ft. high! It also occurs on Brannan Isl. 6 ft. h.!

Forming very rank and heavy stools, and very abundant. Often 3 ft. h.
No. 10,215. Verbena hastata L. Cor. [corolla] deep blue, 2 1/4 lines long; a ring of hairs at throat. Stamens 4, inserted high on tube. Tube slightly hairy below stamens. Cont. p. 107.

No. 10,217. Equisetum hymenale L. var californicum Mikle.
This also occurs on Andrus Isl. It forms pure and extensive stands on the inner banks of the levees and down into the orchards where it is plainly an orchard [peet] or weed. It continues, with interruptions for miles n. of Isleton.
