Leaves to each peduncle two, sometimes longer than the peduncle. Perianth, stamens, pistil--all light blue. Outside of perianth with 12 dark-blue veins, 6 to tip of segments, 6 to sinuses. Perianth in age becoming a darker blue. Only a small portion of the filament free-below adherent to tube. Stamens deluscing blue pollen. Calandrinia Menziesii
No. of stamens:
10, 10, 11, 11, 12, 14
12, 11, 12, 12
I find a flower with a normal stamens and a tenth with a fork at the top, the divergent branche bearing each an anther. Crude sketch, 2 1/2 to 3 times enlarged. Evidently resulted from lateral ovalescence of the filaments. Noted a similar case in Nine-bark at Berkeley about 1 week ago, only there was no bark. Mar. 15, 1900
