wash or along its rocky banks I collected the following numbers:

No. 8765.
Perfectly prostrate on the sand in washes. Rays white. See p. 198a.

No. 8766. Nemacladus
Small plant, abundant in the wash for 2 or 3 miles.

No. 8756. Astragalus vaseyi Wats.
Stems many, now procumbent. Wash.

No. 8768. Galium
Rocky wall.

No. 8769. Prunus fremontii Wats. var. pilulata Jepson.
This Desert Apricot is a rounded bush, 5 to 10 feet high, with many erect stems. It is rather abundant in the upper middle part of the wash.

No. 8770. Apiastrum angustifolium Nutt.
Shade of rocks and bushes.

No. 8771. Lotus strigosus Greene.
Prostrate in wash. Next of same habit.

No. 8771a. Lotus subsuginosus var. brevivexillus.

No. 8772. Coleogyne ramosissima Torr.
Thick rounded bush 1 1/2 to 5 ft. h.

Sepals 4; pets. [petals] none. Ovary enclosed in a closed sheath or sac which is densely silky with long hairs inside, heavily clothed. From this the style only is exserted a little from its narrow aperture. See p. 147.

No. 8773 Beloperone californica Bth.
Low bush (2 to 3 ft. h.), 4 to 8 ft. broad, densely and intricately branched forming a very close tangle. Wash.

No. 8774.
Rays white. Stems erect or ascending forming a very low plant but not prostrate. Washes, most characteristic of them.

No. 8775. Bernardia incana Mort.
Shrub with many erect stems, 4 to 7 ft. h. Dark green foliage. Old stems dark. Near head of wash, i.e., near pass into San Felipe Valley. Sepals 3, spreading. Stamen counts: 5, 6, 5, 7, 6, 6, 7, 7. [male] fls. in an axillary spike which is peduncled; bracts small. Carpels 3 or 4, 2 or 3, perhaps ? 4, fertile. See p. 157.
