31_82 S. Fork Stanislaus River near Italian Bar, circa 1800 ft. ---------- See 6371 No. 6353. Mimulus Corolla pale pink, the lower lip slightly longer than the upper but the lobes equal or nearly so. All the lobes similarly notched! Anthers sparsely but distinctly hairy. Folds on palate lower lip with gland-tipped hairs. Throat dotted and marked with crimson dots & a little yellow spot. [This sheet does not turn up in Berkeley, but the species is the same as 6341, q.v.] No. 6354. Comandra umbellata Nutt. Flowering shoots from old stems. Flowers 5 (or 4)-merous on the same plant Anthers bristly at summit. |
31_83 5 June 1915 ---------- - Today Mrs. A.L. Grant, Dr. Helen Gilkey and myself went on an excursion along the South Fork of the Stanislaus River to Italian Bar. It was fine botanizing ground. I collected Jepsonia heterandra in its native home, rocky cliffs and shelving vertical strata. It was in fruit or leaf only. Ranunculus hystriculus was found in abundance in similar or the same places in dead ripe fruit. No. 6355. Delphinium Hansenii Greene Dark blue. Columbia. No. 6356. Iris hartwegi Baker Deep cream yellow. Woods S. Fork Stanislaus River. Sepals oblong-obovate, 2 1/2 in. long. Anthers 9 lines long. Pedicels 1 to 3 1/4 in. long. |
