31_70 Chinese Camp 1300 ft. ---------- No. 6321. Sidalcea hartwegii Gray. [Symbol for female] flowers. These are quite smaller than the [symbol for male] flowers. Both kinds seem to set fruits. No. 6322. Sidalcea hartwegii [symbol for male] flowers. See 6321. I am calling the large flowered state [symbol for male], and the small-fld state [symbol for female], but both have pistils, at least pistils have been observed on both kinds. No. 6323. Cryptanthe flaccida Greene. Dry ground, old placer diggings. No. 6324. Brodiaea grandiflora Smith [elegans Hoover] Staminodia acute, same length as the stamens. Dry gravelly ground or low moist rich ground. |
31_71 30 May 1915 [Tuolumne Co.] ---------- No. 6325. Arenaria douglasii Fenzl. Dry soil; old placer diggings. Serpentine. No. 6326. Mimulus luteus [guttatus, DC. Det: A.L.G.] Abundant all thru the region. Also forms great patches in the fields near Rawhide. No. 6327. Godetia [Clarkia] arcuata Jepson. Corolla crimson, a deeper purer more even color than in 6318. Pods deep green, regularly 8-ribbed. Anthers red; stigmas white. Compare no. 6318. Style much longer than the anthers; stigmas long. Calyx turned to one side. Eye of corolla small, deep red. No. 6328. Gilia intertexta Stend. [Navarretia intertexta Hook.] Corolla white.Base of bracts woolly. Wet ground, rich soil. -over- |
