- Eschscholtzia californica, no. 6276, plants marked between poles 0/20 and 0/21 on n.side railroad track 1/4 mi east of Vacaville. All the the plants are in the western half of the interval [See image for drawing.] plants = 0, mostly near fence or just beyond lowest part of ditch. All indicated by a [see image for drawing] notch in top board fence. Those in bank by a notch crossed by [see image for drawing] bend [?] on one side. Seventeen plants were marked with checked iron spikes, each spike being checked.

differently. Of these 17 spiked plants, specimens were taken from 15, the other two being lost in the high vegetation after having been put down. The corollas are beginning to yellow a little at the tip in most plants.
No. 6278. Eschscholtzia cal. See p. 43. Another lot of 13 plants were marked a little further east. The locality is by the semaphore signal; on the south side of the track, opp. the semaphore signal, is the semaphore box. Between this and the next set of poles east is say 100 feet. The plants marked were on the highest part of the little ridge
