No. 6277. Ranunculus canus Benth. but too near R. californicus Low wet spot. Petals to 12. No. 6278. Eschscholtzia californica Cham. var. crocea Jepson. Marked plants, marked with plain iron stakes or spikes. For data see p. 45. - This trip to Vacaville primarily for the purpose of marking Eschscholtzia californica. It is threatening to rain momentarily, but I escape a wetting. The botanizing is good. The plants other than the poppies were from the Jewett and Hawkins fields east of Vacaville. The low fields were very gay indeed.
