- Note on 6238. It seems desirable to renumber the tall coarse plants 6238 and the dwarfer plants as 6238a, or rather differentiate the two lots in this way.

in the same way. The stamens vary in number, but are of the same number as the petals. Two [?] petals are often black-veined but usuall the pets. are a uniform dull greenish white.
No. 6238. Mimulus lutens [guttatus DC. var. arvensis (Greene) Grant Det. A.L.G.] - See p. 32b - Tall coarse plant with much dissected lateral portions to blades of lower leaves; growing alongside [?] dwarf plants with simpler leaves. The coarse plants in a wet furrow in a field; the dwarf plants within four or five feet in a less wet place. Markings of corolla not different in the two cases! Shape, palate of corolla not different in the two! Markings light brown, not dark brown or purple!
