Coyote, following the prejudice of all hunters. The Coyote, according to his story, had gotten ahead of him many times, ruining his fox skins, etc. and causing him money loss. My next book, I think I shall dedicate to him, thusly:
Dedicated to the Coyote
Long Afore-time [?] Tenant of the Chaparral
who meets the cunning of traps with superior cunning, who distances vain pursuit with qualities of skill and speed, and who answers the White Man's boasting with howls of contempt or derision.
