30_64 Ord Mt. 4954 ft. summit. See p. 34. who has traveled this country many years and no spring at all exists at the place indicated.__ Directions for desert travel should by all means be accurate since life or death often depend on water. - Mountains in the desert._ Miss Waterman says she finds it difficult to make her friends belive that there are mountains in the desert. The desert mountains are the great charm of the Mohave. They give it variety and mystery and offer a wonderful background for the play of desert colors. _ See vol. 32, p. 34. __ I think ther are two "Ord Mts" close together. |
30_65 10 May 1914. - Acacia gregii. Streambeds in Ord Mt. 6 to 16 ft. h. trunks 4 to 13 inches diam. at 1 ft. Utterly leafless still! Presents a strange appearance with its winter aspect at this season. Roughly fissured light brown bark broken into somewhat interlaced ribbon-like strands 3/4 to 1 in. broad. No. 5926. (Stenotus) Happlopappus linearifolius T. & G. var. interior(Cov.)Jones Rays 15, 15, 12, 13, 17. Spreading many-stemmed bush 12 to 20 inches high. Rays yellow. No. 5927.
