Stems many from the base and with many flowers. Very showy and highly attractive, giving a lively and glowing effect to the wagon trail. = S. ambigua Gray. No. 5857. Platystemon californicus Bth. With sulphur-yellow spots at apex of petals and a little at base, the markings of yellow varible in size and development; or the petals wholly cream color, right on plants in the same colony. The plants show flowers all of one kind in any event.

Grant Corolla tubular - funnelform, pink, a very beautiful color. No. 5860. Nemacladus Larger-form corolla, whitish with yellow tips to segments. The upper pair of segments stand erect, with approximate tips. The 2 processes from upper pair of samens are long and bear, each, 4 bright to rather translucent cylindric glands. No.5861. Nemacladus Smaller-flower. Cor. duller with brownish tips to segments, or [concolored]. Processes on stamens are sgorter and with 1 to 3 cylindric translucent glands.
