30_29 29 Apr. 1914. apex. Seeds in one row! on each placenta. Style sharply 3-cleft but the divisions so closely appressed at this stage that look like one entire style! Petals obovate, merely obtuse at apex. Filaments all filiform. Answer well the description of M. albicaulis. cf. no. 5833. - Erodium texanum Gray. No. 5817, cont. from p. 15. Barstow, hills south. - Sphaeralcea, no. 5837. [cont. from p. 27 at bottom] anywhere in Synoptical Flora or Bot. Cal. The species of both Malvastrum & Sphaeralcea seem poorly described or else very difficult and perhaps little known. This experience with this plant shows the futility of the distinction between these tow genera. |
