Barstow - The country hereabouts, so filled with flowers when we left here four weeks ago, is now quite dry. The Abronia villosa flourishes on the sandy flats, its pink-lavender flowers forming a fine tone against the gray sand. They are most perfect where they grow. They cannot be gathered for home decoration nor will the make fine specimens pressed. The road between Cottonwood and Barstow has been cleared in such a way as to make a strip on each side the wagon track favorable to Abronia villosa and for several
