30_164 Cajon Pass 2400 ft. No. 6099. Calochortus splendens Dougl. Per. lavender. Inner segs. with an oblong felty gland at base of the cuneate fan-shaped petal, a few short scattered hairs just above it. Anthers lanceolate, olive-brown. Sandy flats No. 6100. Asclepias eriocarpa Benth. Hoods roundish, truncatish at top, as if closed, but with a narrow slit for extrusion of the slender horn only the subulate tip of which is extruded and which scarcely equals the rim of the stylar column. Flowers whitish with a pink umbre flush about lower portion of hoods. 14 to 20 in. h. Leaves in 3s and 4s. |
30_165 28 May 1914 San Bernardino Co. No. 6101. Frasera parryi Torr. Petals whitish, dotted with black, glands horse-shoe-shaped with the opening upward, the margin bounded all around with a fence of subulate hairs. Ovary black-dotted. Style one; stigmas 2, small, roundish. No. 6102. Not used. No. 6103. Phacelia distans Bth. acc. R.E.H. hispida Gray. Stems often many from the base and forming a large bushy-branched plant 16 to 24 in. h. Cor. blue, the scales in throat with ruffled or convoluted border where diverging in pairs from stamen filament, but the tips narrow, decreased and not free. Style deeply parted, its lower portion slightly hairy. Anthers brownish. Stamens & style exserted. |
