30_124 County Well, on the Road from Pinon Well to Indio (not Cottonwood Mts.) unequal, 3 long and 2 short. Style very sharply 3-cleft. Calyx tube scarious between the angles. All flower parts glabrous except the calyx glandular with gland-tipped hairs. No. 6028. Physalis crassifolia Benth. Stream bed, branches on the ground. No. 6029. Malvastrum[crossed out] Color cor. same as Ord Mt. one. = Sphaeralcea ambigua Gray. No. 6030. Asclepias subulata Dec. Hoods scimitar-shaped, i.e. with the two sides pressed together like a Lupine keel, the horn a broad thin body with a short point lying between the two |
30_125 c. 500 ft. May 18, 1914. Riverside Co. parts and with the tip barely protruding. - Hills near Indio. Like a rush in habit. Forming large clumps 4 to 5 ft. h. No. 6031. Chrysothamnus paniculatus Hall. Comp. 4 ft. h. with many stems from base. No. 6032. Hymenoclea salsola T. & G. Comp. Stream-bed species 3 ft. h. [Corollas 4 (or 5 !) lobed. Involucre then bowl-shaped or broadly turbinate, with 5 broad teeth Flowers 7, 7. Bracts obovate, ciliate-erose _ [male-sign] heads No. 6033. Opuntia bigelovii Engelm. Like a choya, but very "fat" and with comparatively few stems and branches. A "fat-boy" choya. 3 - 4 1/2 ft. h. (det. S.B.P.) No. 6034. Pinus monophylla Torr & Frem. Pi_on Well Ca_on.
