- Man in auto says: 8 miles up road from 29 Palms to Indio, take left hand, the right hand goes to Desert Queen, the next fork take right hand, goes to Pi_os Wells. - Johnnie, Wilson.
- Eriogonum plumatella is in broad washes. Its branches are strictly erect from a woody trunk 4 to 12 in. h., the leaves not much reduced being protected by the compactness of the vegetative cylinder so to speak; but the infl. branches fork so divaricately and spread a great deal. Those of one branch may almost come back on one another. This

calyx 5-lobed. Stames 8 (one count) [stamens 10, 10, 10, 12. Find none 8 - W.L.J. Apr 17]
-We camped tonight in a very broad wash where there was a great abundance of Gietta Grass (Pleuraphis rigida Thurb.) which our tired horses fed upon contentedly all night long. The clumps where 1 to 3 ft. high. Their inflorescences suggest a wheat head.
