Berkeley, Apr. 1914 - Herr Jahn, a German gardener, comes to call with a card of introd. from the Sexamers at Santa Barbara. He worked for Dr. Franchesci a little and, says F. made a great success of germinating Lyonothamnus in sawdust. F. was a well-to-do man who spent lavishly of his means on his mania of new introductions. The financial returns were inadequate, so says Jahn. - Pringle, C. G. U. S. vs. Pringle cf. Atlantic, Feb. 1913 (111:145) - Greene, E. L. Dinner on 70th birthday, full account in Science, ns. 39:109.
