On a trip up Mt. Tamalpais in Feb. with a student I lost my Field Book No. 28, the original of this book. The day was very rainy and I got wet quite to the skin as if I had been thrown in the bay. The rivulets on the mountain side were torrents and in some way during the day's walk I lost the book. About 40 or 50 pages were written up. The essential matter (the field numbers) have been completely restored from the labels of the herbarium specimens. The matter recovered in this way is to be found in Field Book
