[Berkeley] Jan. 1915 -cont. [continued] -Ailanthus glandulosus, reprod. [reproduces] in thick stands by seed in Pleasant Valley! (Aug. 1916) in a cultivated orchard. -Also acting like a weed on the Tait place near Vacaville but [?Neat?] Tait says by sprouting only (Nov. 1917). -Tamarix indica. Tehachapi Pass and elsewhere. See index F.B. -Amygdalus communis. I notice more spontaneous seedling trees at Little Oak and in the neighborhood. The stand is noticeable-though of course the individuals are few-because in this dry land trees never grew naturally on the plains.-Vaca Valley, July 11, 1927.
