[Alameda] 20 Sept, 1913.
No. 5685. Spartina foliosa Trin.
Grass, in mudflats, overrun by tide.

Azalea [Rhododendron occidentale].
Miss M.L. Hutchinson has been painting [wildflowers] at Eureka.
She says the pink [flowered] Azalea is smaller than the white [flowered] one of Yosemite, has more flowers, is compacter in habit, has smaller leaves, etc.
I think she said something about the odor [differences].

22 Sept, 1913.
Miss M.L. Hutchinson has made hundreds if not thousands of paintings which she sells at _2.00 apiece.
The Los Angeles library has taken several hundred, the State Library has taken some, she has 500 now to be sold at _2.00 each in a lot.
They are rather pretty but of little botanical value.
