Alice Eastwood
Her place names give some trouble.
"Dutard ranch" Near the boundary between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties."
One does not know whether this is Santa Barbara Co. or San Luis Obispo Co.
On a Supervisor's Official Map of Santa Barbara Co. I find a Dutard land-holding about 1 1/2 [1.5] miles w. [west] of Santa Maria.
"Suey ranch." Used in same was as above.
"Huasna."
Cuyama, May 7, 1896. Phacelia distans.
1908. May 16. Santa Barbara. Phacelia distans.

I find Phacelia distans:
Zaca Mtn. [Mountain] Alice Eastwood, June 17-22, 1902 printed label.
Another sheet:
Zaca Mt. [Mountain], Alice Eastwood, June 17-22, 1900 written label in Miss Eastwood's hand.

This shows the uncertainty of labels, especially when the spm. [specimens] are not numbered serially, with numbering is always a check.

1894. Santa Cruz Isl. [Island] Astragalus leucopsis.

R.D. Alderson
Witch Creek. Feb. 1894. Dodecatheon Clevelandi.
May, 1893. Pine Valley. Phacelia curvipes.

A.M. Carpenter
He and his brother spent a summer vacation, while students at the University, collecting for E.L. Greene.
Carpenter told me that the entire collection was made in the neighborhood of the Bowman Dam group of lakes, which lakes are in Nevada Co.
The printed labels read "Placer County, Aug.-Oct., 1892."
The labels were printed by the University.
I do not recall any Nevada Co. [County] label.
See label with Lotus crassifolius.
