Berkeley to El Portal September 7, 1913 The International Phylogeographer's Excursion arrived in California from Oregon on the morning of Sept. 7 Sunday. I met them at the 16th-St Station and rode to the Pier where we had breakfast and took the train for Yosemite at 9:09. Stopped for lunch at Tracy. The party's interest was heightened at following up the Merced Canyon through the foothills of the Sierra, first the Blue Oak (Quercus douglasii) alone, then Pinus sabiniana came in, then Quercus wislizenii and after a while great pure patches of Adenostoma fasciculatum succeeded the
