No. 5410. [Glyptopleura setulosa] Ligules clear white or yellow tinted. Leaves margined with whitish margin. Bracts, lanceolate, the outer dilated abruptly at tip into green spot margined with white bristles, the inner bracts without tips, merely acute.

No. 5412. Eriogonum trichopodum [trichopes] Per. greenish, its segments ovate, acute, all alike, scarious, with a green midvein. Its leaves crinkly or half-blistery. Calico Mts.

- Distichlis spicata. Mr. Manson says: -- Cattle & horses feed on it and it keeps them alive but they do not fatten on it. It has a bloating effect and their bellies become distended as if they were going to give birth to a calf or colt. The Zaca-tone, no. 5516_, is a fine feed. The leaves are very harsh & hard but cattle & horses feed on it & fatten up. It grows in the best soil there is. See p. 88.
- Chorizanthe brevicornu, no. 5377 Per. white, its lobes oblong, erosulate at apex. Invol. with one fl., its per. tube long and slender, the lobes barely exserted. See p. 47
