Splendid showy thing.
No. 5365. Aster tortifolius Gray. Woody, at base; 10 to 14 in. h. Perennial, -- Rays lilac. Very showy when well-grown and a plant adding greatly to the interest of the desert at this time.
No. 5366. Franseria dumosa Gray. Comp. Shrub 14 in. h. Coville says this is preferred for forage by horses to all other desert shrubs.
No. 5367. Nama demissum Gray. Fls. red-purple, making beautiful spots against the gray sand of the desert! Prostrate. Cont. bottom p. 57.
