Mohave Desert, Barstow
----------
2100 ft.

- Was met at the station by Miss Waterman with her road team who took me at once to the ranch. Then we drove to Hinkley. On the way we found a disabled Western Grebe on the desert which when I approached showed fight, advancing and thrusting vigorously at my hands its long and slender sharp bill. We took him home and Manson put him in a tub of water. I had the usual hearty welcome from all the ranch people and feel quite at home again.
