or below middle, the color of the saccate keel changing to dull white. Ovary & fils. glabrous. Invol. very small, 1/2 line long, broadly turbinate. This seems too much like E. thomasii.
- Eriogonum Kelloggii Gray Notes on Red Mt. spm by Alice Eastwood, Aug. 4, 1902. Perianth glabrous, narrowed to a markedly stipe-like base, 4 1/2 lines long, its segments obovate, rounded at apex. Ovary glabrous. Filaments hairy below middle. The stipe is 2/3 line long & filiform! The plant in habit & shape & arrangement of leaves is like E. umbellatum var. monocephalum.

- Eriogonum Kennedyi. Notes Hall 7297. Independence. Perianth glab., 1 1/4 lines long, outer segs. broadly oblong, almost subcordate at base in any event abruptly dilated above the very short base. inner segs. narrowly oblong, both sets may sometimes be ovatish. Fils. & ovary glabrous _Another fl. shows scabrous ovary.) Invol. turbinate, 1 1/3 lines long, deeply toothed sharply.
Hall 6445 Mt. Pinos has a dif. perianth, the segments being obovate or round obovate but drawn down to a narrow almost claw-like base. Ovary distinctly scabrous.
- The dif. in the 2 spms. is due to dif. in age of fls. but not wholly to that; I think there is a slight dif. anyway.
