- Audibertia incana. Upper lip sharply notched; lower lip of 3 equal lobes. Two lower stamens fertile, exserted, 2 upper short and sterile. Parts all deep blue except the yellow anthers. Corolla tube short, white-hairy inside. Filaments with a short connective at summit shown by a somewhat kneed joint or by a tooth. Shrub 1 to 2 feet high. Showy shrub on the whole, its flowers small but deep blue and the foliage gray. No. 5435. The above notes from the dried specimen and from memory of the shrub in the field.) See p. 71.

- W.G. Wright. S.B. Parish says of him that he was a born collector, by instinct a collector; he collected everything. He had a collection of minerals, of plants, of birds-eggs, & of birds, of postage stamps, of old hats, of Oriental books, of shells, and so on. As executor Parish was obliged to dispose of all these collections by sale to the best advantage according to order of the court. Wright willed his fine collection of butterflies to the California Academy of Sciences. Parish regretted that he had not similarly disposed of all his plunder as it would have simplified the labor very greatly. His house and barn were full of stuff. He never threw away
