26_96 Blythe Intake, c. 290 ft. Colorado River. ---------- Drift does not go very far at a time in a river that is not rising. Our seats went off when the boat sank at Parker but we recovered two of them about 100 yards below! This rise has unloosened and set free many a log jam and the river is running full of driftwood. The next morning the river was going down, having risen about 18 inches! Cf. F.B. 29:99. - Tessaria borealis, Arrowweed. Rennie says this is evergreen and that it sprouts up when cut down. No. 5246a. 26_97 Riverside Co. 29 Oct. 1912 ---------- No. 5248. Dalea parryii. Torr & Gr. Leguminous shrub 1 ft. h. with spreading branches 1 1/2 to 2 ft. long. Flowers purple. Banner 1/3 as long as keel, wings 2/3 " " " ". Banner cordately reniform and with a short sharp point at apex, the purple sides turned in so as almost to make a sac, the center whitish and with translucent gland-dots. Wash. Blythe Intake, Palo Verde Valley at Black Point on edge Riverside Mts. Ovules 2! ---------- No. 5249. Bebbia juncea var. aspersa Composite bush 2 1/4 ft. h. & twice as broad, densely branched, the younger stems green, the older stems white; leafless. Wash. Rayless. Pappus -- bristle counts: 20, 19, 20, 19. |
