- McClenahan, rep. Davey Tree Expert Co., called to say cement work on our oak trees was defective. Also admitted, in response to my suggestion that there were other tree expert cos. around, that they were so-called tree experts but do not really know their business. He disinfects cavity with corrosive sublimate and also wood alcohol. Near bark he dilutes these sterilizers.
- Opulaster opulifolius = Physocarpus opulifolius, Oak Flat near Millwood, "creek full of it". -- Ralph Hopping who coll. spm. for Forest Service

- Lycium cooperi, based on Hall's 6194 Victorville, Mohave Desert. Fils. at least free portion glabrous, inserted very high on cor. tube. Ovary with a sutural horiz. depression or constriction on each side at middle or nearer top of cell. Also observed in Hall's 6031 Eagle Mt.
- L. fremontii Gray. Not included as Californian by Abrams, Trees & Shrubs. S. Cal. but Brandegee's Borregos Spr. and Signal Mt. Colo. Desert may be it. (Borregos Springs, 4/22/'95.
- L. parishii Gray. Mesa, San Bernardino, S.B. Parish, 1895, Apr. seems closest to L. richii but is puberulent or pubescent. Calyx-lobes oblong, nearly equalling tube.
- L. richii, Tuomey, Catalina, '94 Filaments very woolly below,
