- Olneya tesota. Tree 3 ft. 5 in. at ground circ; 3 ft. 7 in. circ. at 2 ft. 31 feet h. and with a round crown 26 ft. broad, the lower branches sweeping the ground. Photo taken, 3:-6. See photo!
- Parkinsonia torreyana Wats., trees here at night camp very leafy or in part of crown leafy, rather few naked individuals. Fewer than I had expected to see.
- Ceanothus thyrsiflorus. Near Ft. Bragg where the soil is as a whole mortal poor, this species when growing well & big, is a sign of good soil, says Rennie.

No. 5280. Polygonum [fusiforme Greene] 18 to 36 in h. decumbent at base. Perianth red-pink in bud with white tips, becoming almost white in anthesis. Perianth white inside. Stamens 7, 5 alt with perianth-lobes. Style 2-cleft. Cal. shore, lower Palo Verde Val. Internodes semi-spindle-shaped. Some sheaths bristly-cil.
No. 5281. Cucurbita digitata Gray. Fls. squash yellow. Style short, with 5 deeply divided stigmas, each stigmatic division linear-lanceolate. -- Wash, upper end Cibola Valley. Fruits 5-celled, the placental plates extending nearly to wall of fruit, bearing seeds on each side.
