No. 4768. Medicago spiculata Willd. = M. hispida var. confinis
Burs without prickles, or the prickles reduced to warts. Also in the same lot the ordinary burry type. I do not see any other difference between the two unless a slight difference in the size of the corolla perhaps a trifle larger. After examining a number of fls. [flowers] I should say banner of prickless plant is orbicular as you look at it; of prickly bn [banner] is graduate of somewhat so. Sides of banner rounded in former, straightest sides in latter.

No. 4769. Wyethia glabra
The whole plant as if painted with a sticky oil or rather the whole foliage which is very abundant with very large leaves. The stem is leafy and to the top and with leaves almost as large as the basal leaves. Involucral bracts very broad and foliaceous. Rays with a color distinctive and different from any other Wyethia or Balsamorrhiza that I know,--say a straw yellow. Crown of the achene consisting
