--Populus fremontii--seeds of the Cottonwood now flying, filling the air with a shower of floating bodies, a little like snowflakes. The children receive this phenomenon as a part of their fairy world. The white tufts come out of nowhere and dance in the sunshine, and pass to earth.
--Met Hart North in the street of Vacaville. He has land in Berryessa Val. [Valley] which he is planting to fruit and thereby is removing _Valley Oak_. He

speaks, as others, of the great flow of water from the cut trunk--"ran a stream", as he expressed it.

--Pommell, L.H. of Ames Iowa, called for me afternoon about Apr. 25. Took him over the grounds _ gave him specimens of conifers.
